MiniSkills 2026: Welding, slush ice and curious students

There was plenty of action when Aquagain took part in MiniSkills in Medius Holsted on April 16.

Our stand was buzzing all day as curious 7th grade students threw themselves into welding simulators, hands-on activities – and yes, plenty of slush ice.

The welding simulators – provided in collaboration with the Danish Knowledge Centre for Automation and Technology – were a huge hit, and many students had their very first “welding experience” in a virtual setup, where they could test their skills without smoke or sparks.

At the same time, our other activities were running at full speed, giving students the chance to use their hands and get a feel for what it’s like to work as a metalworker. There were questions, laughter, thinking and trying things out – exactly as it should be.

And then there was the slush ice machine…
It quickly became the place to be – we served more than 300 cups, so both the machine and the sugar levels were working overtime

A conversation at eye level
From Aquagain, the team consisted of Rune Christiansen (Service Manager), Jonas Lund (Apprentice) and Heidi Kodal (Sales and Communication).

We were especially happy to have our apprentice with us. It simply makes a difference being able to talk to someone who is right in the middle of it – and who can explain that the job includes both workshop work and on-site installation.

Maybe a future colleague?
MiniSkills is all about opening eyes to new opportunities – and it definitely felt like it worked.

We met a lot of curious young people – and yes, some were mostly interested in the slush ice – but if just a few of them go home thinking:
"That… I could actually see myself doing that",…then we’re more than happy.
